Dimitris Isaias
Dimitris Isaias was born in Athens in 1952 and graduated from the School of Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 1976. During his student years, he began collaborating with Tasis Papaioannou, a partnership that evolved into an architectural firm in 1979. He has developed designs for both public and private projects and has participated in architectural competitions, earning numerous awards. This aspect of his work is a significant part of his career and a field of research and reflection. His architectural work is featured in numerous publications in both Greek and international literature, as well as in major architectural exhibitions. The portfolio of the Isaias and Papaioannou firm includes buildings such as the Aigio Courthouse (1st prize in the national architectural competition - 1988), an office building in Athens (EIA award - 2000), the Arsakeia Schools in Patras (2004) and Tirana (2007), and the Stymphalia Environment Museum (Special award - 2008). Concurrently, he engaged in research activities on housing issues at the National Center for Social Research (1984-1992) and the Johns Hopkins Center for Metropolitan Planning and Research (1982-1983). His teaching activities and his relationship with the School of Architecture at NTUA have played a significant role in shaping his views. In 1992, he was elected Lecturer in the Department of Architectural Design at the School of Architecture at NTUA, where he continues to teach as an Associate Professor. He has given lectures and participates in public discourse on architecture and urban issues by publishing articles and comments in books, magazines, and newspapers. Among other contributions, he co-authored the book "Architecture: Ideas that Meet - Ideas that Disappear" (2004).
