Dimitris Daskalopoulos

Born in 1939 in Patras, he studied law in Athens. From 1962 until his retirement in 1996, he worked as an employee at the National Bank of Greece. Between 1984 and 1996, he was responsible for publishing the bank's cultural magazine, "Emeis," and during the last fifteen years of his service, he was in charge of the Bank's Publications & Historical Archive Department and served as the Director of Public Relations. In 2006, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Department of Philology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has published poetry, essays, and studies on modern Greek literature. He has edited works by Seferis and compiled bibliographies for Seferis, G. K. Katsimbalis, Sikelianos, Elytis, Manolis Anagnostakis, Alexandros Kotzias, Nora Anagnostaki, K. P. Kavafis, and many others. He was also a regular contributor to the magazine "Entefktirio," the newspaper "Ta Nea" as a book critic and columnist, and a regular contributor to the encyclopedia "Papyros-Larousse-Britannica." He is a member of the Hellenic Literary and Historical Archive (ELIA), the Society of Authors, the Hellenic Society for General and Comparative Literature, the Study Center for Modern Greek Studies, and the Moraitis Studies Society. He served as an alternate member of the Board of Directors of the Center for the Greek Language and was vice president of the National Book Center from 2000 to 2004. He has participated in the committee for the awarding of state literary prizes, as well as in the equivalent committee of the magazine "Diavazo." In 1990, he represented Greece on the committee for the awarding of the European Prize for Literature (Dublin). He has been invited to and participated in numerous conferences, symposia, and seminars. In 2015, he was awarded the Petros Haris Foundation Prize by the Academy of Athens for his entire body of work. Works: A.
