Kostas Loustas

Born in 1933 in Athens, he grew up in Florina, a city with a rich artistic tradition. He studied painting and sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts (graduating top of his class) under the tutelage of Yiannis Moralis and Michalis Tombros from 1953 to 1958. He also studied music and is involved in poetry and literature in general. Since 1958, he has been living in Thessaloniki. His first exhibition was in 1957 in Florina, and in 1961, with the support of poet Giorgos Vafopoulos, he held his first exhibition in Thessaloniki at the YMCA. International recognition came for Kostas Loulas in the 1960s with a series of solo and group exhibitions in New York, which earned him high praise. His collaboration in the 1970s with the "International" gallery in the same city cemented his international reputation. He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Athens, Thessaloniki, and major cities across Greece, and he regularly participates in exhibitions abroad. His last exhibition outside of Greece was in 1999 at the "Paul Hawkins" gallery in London.
