Adamantios Sampson

Adamantios Sampson is an archaeologist and a professor in the Department of Mediterranean Studies at the University of the Aegean. He teaches Prehistoric Archaeology of the Mediterranean and Archaeology of Pre-Columbian America and Asia. He studied at the University of Athens, where he earned his Ph.D., and pursued postdoctoral studies in England, focusing on Environmental Archaeology. He specializes in the study of the Mesolithic and Neolithic periods and has conducted numerous excavations in caves and open prehistoric sites primarily in Greece and the Aegean. Currently, he is conducting excavations at the Neolithic settlement of Ftelia in Mykonos, the Mesolithic settlement of Kythnos, and the prehistoric Sarakenos Cave in Boeotia, while also conducting surface surveys on deserted islets in the Southern Aegean. He is a member of scientific societies and has authored 34 books and 200 articles.
