Nikolaos Papamarkos

Nikolaos Papamarkos is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace. He received his Diploma in Mechanical-Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1979 and his PhD from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace in 1986. During 1987 and 1992, he was a visiting researcher at the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. His main research interests include digital signal processing, digital image processing and analysis, pattern recognition, neural networks, fuzzy logic, and optimization algorithms. In these areas, he has published more than 160 scientific papers in international scientific journals and conference proceedings. Additionally, he is the author of seven textbooks. Under his supervision, nine PhD dissertations and thirty Master's theses have been successfully completed. Citations to his work exceed 3,850.
