
Philip Hardie
Philip Hardie is a Professor of Latin Literature at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of New Hall. He is the author of the books "Virgil's Aeneid: Cosmos and Imperium" (1986), "The Epic Successors of Virgil" (1993), an edition of the ninth book of the "Aeneid" in the Cambridge Greek and Latin Classics series (1994), and "Ovid's Poetics of Illusion" (2002). He is also one of the editors of "Ovidian Transformations" (1999). Currently, he is contributing to the comprehensive commentary on Ovid's "Metamorphoses," which is to be published by the Fondazione Valla. He is the general editor of the "Greek and Latin Classics" series and a Fellow of the British Academy. Recently, on October 21, 2004, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from the Department of Philology.
