Sotiris Kostopoulos

Sotiris Kostopoulos was born in Elaiochori, Achaia, and grew up in Patras. He studied political and economic sciences in Italy (Pavia) and continued his postgraduate studies at the Institute of European Studies in Geneva. He became politically active at a very young age. He is a founding member of PASOK, the author of the historic declaration of September 3rd, and was a long-time member of the Movement's Central Committee. He served as the General Secretary of Press & Information (1981-1985), advisor to Andreas Papandreou, government spokesperson, and Member of the European Parliament. From a young age, he was involved in journalism and the writing of political studies and books.
