Countee Cullen

Born in 1903 in New York, he was one of the greatest African American poets and a leading figure of the "Harlem Renaissance." His work was characterized by a complex lyricism, and he was deeply influenced by Keats and Shelley. It is noteworthy that he was an opponent of Modernism. He passed away in 1946.
