
Lazaros K. Triarchou
Lazaros Taxiarchou is a Professor of Basic Neuroscience and the Chair of the Department of Educational and Social Policy at the University of Macedonia. He graduated from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Rochester (M.Sc.), and Indiana University-Purdue University (Ph.D.) in the United States, where he served as a Professor of Neurology and Neuropathology, as well as an advisor to the Department of Health and Human Services. He is a founding member and fellow of the American Society for Neuroscience in the U.S. and an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Society for Neuroscience. For his research contributions, he has been honored by the American Association of Neuropathologists, the National Institutes of Health in the U.S., and the Bodossaki Foundation. His writing includes the monographs "Neural Transplantation in Cerebellar Ataxia" (Springer Verlag, 1997) and "Dopaminergic Neuron Transplantation in the Weaver Mouse Model of Parkinson's Disease" (Kluwer Academic, 2002). There are over 1,300 citations to his work in international literature.
