Vaso Mparmpousi

Vasso Barbousi is a graduate of the Rallou Manou Dance School and the Athens Gymnastics Academy. She continued her studies in New York at the Martha Graham School and with Erick Hawkins. She studied choreography and improvisation with Robert Dunn. At Columbia University (Teachers College), she earned a Master of Arts in Dance and Physical Education. She obtained her doctoral degree from the University of Thessaly. In 1987, she founded the dance company "Okyroe." She taught at the professional dance school of D. Grigoriadou. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Preschool Education at the University of Thessaly (Volos) and teaches in the Department of Theatre Studies at the University of the Peloponnese in Nafplio. She collaborated with the National Theatre and choreographed the tragedies "Medea" by Euripides, "Oedipus and Antigone" by Sophocles, as well as "Doña Rosita" by Lorca. She has worked with directors N. Kountouri, K. Arvanitaki, V. Papavasileiou, and R. Pateraki.
