Louiza Syndika - Laourda

Louiza Syndika-Laourda (1913-1991) was born in Thessaloniki and studied at the School of Philosophy at Aristotle University. She pursued postgraduate studies in Byzantine history and art at the Sorbonne. In 1951, she was awarded a doctorate from the School of Philosophy in Thessaloniki. She worked as an assistant in the Department of Byzantine Art and Archaeology at the same school (1951-1960) and as a scientific associate at IMXA (1971-1980). She taught periodically in secondary education as well as at the University of Wisconsin in Madison (USA). Her work primarily focused on post-Byzantine painting.
