Maria Karaiskou

Maria Karaiskou is a Lecturer in the Department of Preschool Education at the University of Crete, specializing in "Modern Greek Philology: Prose and the Young Child." She graduated from the Department of Philology at the University of Crete. She began her postgraduate studies in the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of London (King's College), where she was awarded a Master of Arts in Modern Greek Literature (1996). She also completed her doctoral dissertation (PhD) at the same university, titled "The Formation of the Modern Greek Short Story: Critical Perspectives and Narrative Practice (1880-1920)," in 2002. Her research interests focus on modern Greek prose, comparative literature, and children's literature.
