Zacharias G. Agioutantis

Zacharias Agioutantis received his degree in Mining and Metallurgical Engineering from the School of Mining Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens in 1982, graduating at the top of his class. He furthered his studies at the Department of Mining Engineering at Virginia Tech in the USA, where he earned two postgraduate degrees: a Master of Science in 1984 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1987. Since 1989, he has been serving in the Department of Mineral Resources Engineering at the Technical University of Crete, and in 2001, he was appointed as a Professor. He teaches specialized courses in the upper semesters of the undergraduate program and a series of courses in the postgraduate program of the same department. He is the director of the Rock Mechanics Laboratory at the Technical University of Crete, where both educational and research activities are conducted, and he is a scientific collaborator with the Department of Mining Engineering at Virginia Tech (USA).
