Athina A. Lazakidou

Dr. Athina A. Lazakidou graduated in 1996 from the Department of Informatics at the Athens University of Economics and Business. Between 1997 and 2000, she completed her doctoral dissertation in Berlin, specifically at the Department of Medical Informatics at the University of Berlin in Germany. In early May 2008, she was appointed as a Lecturer in Health Informatics at the Department of Nursing at the University of the Peloponnese in Sparta. Since August 2013, she has been working as an Assistant Professor of Health Informatics at the University of the Peloponnese. Previously (2000-2002), Dr. Athina Lazakidou worked in Nicosia as a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Informatics at the University of Cyprus. From 2002-2008, she served as Special Laboratory Teaching Staff at the University of Piraeus, and from 2002-2007, she taught Informatics at the Hellenic Army Academy in Vari, Attica, and from 2004-2009 at the Hellenic Naval Academy in Piraeus. She also has extensive teaching experience (2004-2007) at the postgraduate level, as she taught in the Interuniversity/Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program "Organization & Management of Health Services" and "Health Informatics" at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Since 2009, she has been teaching the postgraduate course "Information Systems Management of Health Services" in the Master's Program "Health Services Management and Crisis Management" at the University of the Peloponnese. She possesses significant academic and research experience in the following areas: Health Economics and Information Systems, Databases, Geographic Information Systems in Health, and Informatics Applications in various fields. She has authored a substantial number of articles in scientific journals and presentations at international conferences in the aforementioned areas. She has also worked as a Special Expert for the European Union, Information Society S.A., Electronic Governance of Social Security S.A. (IDIKA S.A.), the Development Company Information-Training-Local Development S.A. (PETA S.A.), the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), and the Research Promotion Foundation (RPF) of the Republic of Cyprus for the evaluation of research proposals and Informatics projects.
