
Nikolaos Digelidis
Nikolaos Diggelidis has been a faculty member in the Department of Physical Education at the University of Thessaly since 2002, currently holding the position of Associate Professor. He has also taught at the Democritus University of Thrace in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. He earned his undergraduate degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1988) and his master's and doctoral degrees from Democritus University of Thrace (1996 and 2000, respectively). Over the years, he has worked in elementary, middle, and high schools and as a volleyball coach. He has published 52 scientific papers in Greek journals, 28 in international journals, contributed a chapter to a foreign book, and has 14 publications in applied practice journals. His studies on school physical education have been presented at national, European, and global conferences (41 at international conferences and over 100 at Greek conferences, 28 of which are short articles), with citations exceeding 758 (Source: Harzing’s Publish or Perish). He is the author of 5 books related to Physical Education, 2 of which are official textbooks of the Ministry of Education for Physical Education in elementary schools. Additionally, he has actively participated in every significant national reform effort since 2000 (e.g., Olympic Education Program, Kallipateira Program, drafting of the Curriculum Guide for Secondary Education, and the development of a new Curriculum and Teacher's Guide for Physical Education in high schools). Since 1999, he has been systematically supervising student internships in schools, and his undergraduate teaching duties include Instructional Methodology in Physical Education, Teaching Methods in Physical Education, Curriculum Design in Physical Education, and Evaluation in Physical Education. At the postgraduate level, he teaches Physical Education in Secondary Education, Teaching Content and Design, and Evaluation and Effectiveness in the School Environment (in the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program "Exercise, Health, and Quality of Life") as well as Physical Activity and Health (in the European Master Degree in Exercise and Sport Psychology). His research interests focus on the development and experimental application of innovative physical education programs in primary and secondary education, fostering a positive motivational climate, promoting positive attitudes towards exercise and health, and exploring teaching methods and styles in physical education.
