Maria Archimandritou

Maria Archimandritou was born in Alexandroupoli and raised in Thessaloniki. She studied law and holds a Ph.D. from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.). She has served as a Visiting Scholar at Saarland University in Germany and as a Visiting Professor of Criminology at Loyola University in Chicago. She was also a researcher at New York University and Columbia University in New York. Currently, she is an Associate Professor at A.U.Th. She made her debut in poetry in 1976 as a student. She has published thirteen (13) poetry collections, nineteen (19) books of scientific studies, and five (5) books of translations. Her poems have been anthologized and translated into English, German, Italian, and the language of FYROM. Her poetry collections include: "Words" (1976), "A Letter for You" (1979), "Chronomessages" (1984), "Mutations" (1986), "Of Absence" (1988), "Crimson Hymn" (1994), "The Sweetness of the Apple" (1996), "Well-being of Colors" (1998), "The Triumph of Roses" (2002), "Cities of the Wind" (2005), "Fishy Land" (2011), "Light of the Sun" (2015).
