Dimitris Kerkinos

Dimitris Kerkines studied film at the University of Manitoba in Canada and social anthropology at the University of the Aegean. He conducted field research in Cuba, focusing on the relationship between cinema and society in Havana during the 1990s. Since 2002, he has been the program director of the "Balkan Survey" section at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. He has published critical essays on cinema and has edited several monographs for the TIFF. In addition to ethnographic documentary and visual anthropology, his academic interests include the anthropology of cinema and media.
