Aineias o Taktikos

Aeneas is the first military author of ancient Greece. According to the prevailing view, he should be identified with Aeneas the Stymphalian, a general of the Arcadian League, who lived in the 4th century BC and led the Arcadian army in the Battle of Mantinea in 361 BC. A battlefield military expert rather than a writer, Aeneas primarily addressed his peers. Through his treatise on how a besieged city should defend itself (Poliorketika), he provides remarkable historical examples and significantly contributes to our understanding of the structure of Greek cities in the 4th century BC with his information.
