Georgios Androulakis is an emeritus professor of Surgery at the Medical School of Athens. He was born in Heraklion, Crete, where he completed his secondary education at "Koraes" High School. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens and holds a doctorate in Surgery. He is certified in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery. He served his military duty as a reserve medical officer in the Special Forces. He has had a continuous academic career, advancing through all ranks: lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor, and finally, professor of Surgery in 1992. Since 1982, he has occasionally directed University Units in various hospitals, such as Aretaieio, the General State Hospital of Piraeus, and the Hippocrates Hospital. His postgraduate studies were conducted at the Postgraduate Medical School in London and at the Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard Medical School in the United States. He is a visiting professor at numerous Medical Schools in the USA and Europe. He has an extensive body of written work, having authored over 300 scientific papers published in both Greek and international journals. He is the author of 10 scientific books in Greek and other languages and has contributed to many more.
