THaleia G. Dragona

Thaleia Dragona is a professor of social psychology and the chair of the Department of Early Childhood Education at the University of Athens. She was a member of the Governing Committee in the establishment of the Hellenic Open University and co-directed, alongside Anna Frangoudaki, a program initiated by the Ministry of Education from 1997, focusing on the educational reform for minority children in Thrace. Her research work involves the promotion of early psychosocial health, social identity, minorities, and ethnocentrism within the educational system. Between 2007 and 2009, she served as a Member of Parliament for PASOK. In 2009, she was appointed as the Special Secretary for Educational Planning at the Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning, and Religious Affairs, a position she resigned from in October 2010, citing attacks from external circles.
