
Jhumpa Lahiri
Jhumpa Lahiri, the daughter of Indian immigrants, was born in 1967 in London but grew up in the United States. Her first collection of short stories, "Interpreter of Maladies," was published in 1999 and received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, the PEN/Hemingway Award, and The New Yorker Debut of the Year. In 2003, her first novel, "The Namesake," was released. This was followed in 2008 by her second collection of short stories, "Unaccustomed Earth," which won the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award and the Asian American Literary Award. In 2013, she published the novel "The Lowland." Her books have been translated into many languages and are featured on bestseller lists. She currently resides in Rome.
