Panagiotis G. Vatikiotis

Panagiotis Gerasimov Vatikiotis (P. J. Vatikiotis, 1928-1998) was a professor for many years at the University of London, where he founded the Political Studies program. Of Greek descent, he never lived in Greece, except as a visitor. A polymath and multilingual, he was internationally recognized as one of the leading experts in the political history of the Near and Middle East. He also served as a distinguished visiting professor at Princeton University, Indiana University, the University of California, Los Angeles, and the American University in Cairo. He authored and edited numerous books and articles.
