
Soloúp
Soloup (Antonis Nikolopoulos) is a political cartoonist and comic book creator. He holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Technology and Communication from the University of the Aegean and has studied Political Science at Panteion University. To date, he has published 14 albums featuring cartoons and comics, the study "Greek Comics" (Topos, 2012), and the graphic novel "Aivali" (Kedros, 2014), which has been translated into French and Turkish. Additionally, "Aivali" was awarded "Best Comic" and "Best Script" at the Greek Comic Awards 2015, as well as the "Coup de Coeur 2016" at the 17th Rendez-vous du Carnet De Voyage festival (Clermont Ferrand/France).
In 2015, the Benaki Museum hosted the exhibition "Aivali - A Journey Through Time" (February - May), the first major comic book exhibition in Greece to be held in a museum. The exhibition toured for over 400 days in museums, galleries, and libraries across Greece. Soloup has performed live drawing on stage, accompanying musical performances at the Athens Concert Hall (2017), the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the Michalis Cacoyannis Foundation (2018), and elsewhere. He occasionally organizes workshops as part of a broader ongoing research project on sketching (cartoons - comics/graphic novels).
