Eleni Ladia

Eleni Ladia was born in 1945 in Athens. She studied archaeology and theology at the University of Athens. Her most well-known literary works include: "Bronze Sleep," "Fragmentary Relationship," "The Service," "The Groves of Persephone," "Grace," "Riverside Loves," and "The Oracles of the Dead and the Underworld of the Greeks." She has been honored with the Second State Award (1981) for the collection "Bronze Sleep," the Ouranis Award from the Academy of Athens for "Horography" (1999), and the State Short Story Award (2007) for the novella "The Woman with the Ship on Her Head." Her short stories have been translated into Slovenian, French, and English. Her novel "Chi the Lion-Shaped" has been translated into Serbian, and "Grace" and "The Woman with the Ship on Her Head" into Romanian. The "Homeric Hymns," translated by D. P. Papaditsas and E. Ladia, have been translated into Finnish. Her articles and studies have been published in various magazines and newspapers in the country.
