Alexandra Goulaki - Voutyra

Born in Thessaloniki, she studied archaeology and art history under professors M. Andronikos, G. Despini, D. Pandermalis, N. Platon, and Chr. Christou, earning her degree in 1976. She continued her postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Bonn, where she completed her Ph.D. on "Classical and Classicist Representations of Victory" (Bonn 1980). In 1981, she worked at the Archaeological Society for the Mythological Dictionary LIMC. Since 1982, she has been teaching art history at the Department of Architecture of the Polytechnic School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as an assistant professor. She has particularly focused on the study of the work of Yannoulis Chalepas, the marble sculpture workshop of his father, Ioannis Chalepas, and sculptors from Tinos. Since 1990, she has been responsible for a research program on ecclesiastical marble sculpture in the Cyclades. Additionally, since 1985, she has been involved in topics of musical iconography in antiquity and other periods. She has published numerous books and studies on modern Greek sculpture and musical iconography.
