Alkis Alkaios

Alkis Alkaios, one of the most significant poets of Greek song, made his debut in Greek literature in 1967 with the publication of a short essay on the poet K.G. Karyotakis. In 1983, his book "Embargo - Poems" was published by ET.NE.M. editions, founded by Thanos Mikroutsikos. This collection includes the poem "Morning Cigarette," dedicated to the memory of the prematurely lost Manos Loizos. His acquaintance with composer Thanos Mikroutsikos dates back to the late 1970s, leading to one of the longest and most important collaborations in Greek music, resulting in landmark albums such as "Embargo" (1982) and "In the Shack of the Century" (1996). In the recording industry, he also had significant collaborations on albums by Notis Mavroudis, Sokratis Malamas, Miltos Paschalidis, Marios Tokas, and others. He passed away in the early hours of December 10, 2012, at the age of 63, after battling cancer.
