CHristos A. Dermentzopoulos

Christos Dermentzopoulos studied Sociology at Panteion University in Athens and Anthropology, History, and Film Theory at Paris I - Sorbonne and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Science in France. He teaches Anthropology of Art, History of Civilizations, and History-Theory of Cinema at the Department of Fine Arts and Art Sciences at the University of Ioannina and is a member of the Adjunct Faculty in the postgraduate program in Cultural Unit Management at the Hellenic Open University. He is the author of the book "The Bandit Novel in Greece: Myths, Representations, Ideology" ("Plethron," 1997) and co-editor (with M. Spyridakis) of the collective volume "Anthropology, Culture, and Politics" ("Metaichmio," 2004). At the same publishing house, he directs the series "Film Studies." His research interests focus on issues of visual culture and popular culture.
