Zacharias I. Siaflekis

Zacharias I. Siaflekis (Volos, 1953) studied French Philology at the University of Thessaloniki and later pursued Comparative Philology with a specialization in the theory of literary forms in Paris. He was awarded a doctorate there, with a dissertation that was published a few years later. He taught at the Universities of Paris, Ioannina, and Thessaly, and served as a professor in the Department of French Language and Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He published scholarly studies on his field of interest both independently and in collaboration with various journals and collective works in Greece and abroad, while also making his mark with original publications in the field of literature. He contributed to the founding of the Hellenic Society for General and Comparative Literature (1986), where he served as vice president and president for 16 years (2006-2009). He was a member of the corresponding French Society and vice president of the Hellenic Semiotic Society, as well as a board member of the International Comparative Literature Association. Since 1989, he had been responsible for the scientific oversight of the journal "Comparison / Comparaison," the annual publication of the Hellenic Society for General and Comparative Literature. He passed away on April 18, 2017.
