Annita N. Prassa

Annita Prassa was born and raised in Nafplio. She studied History and Archaeology at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens, where she received her Ph.D. in Modern Greek History. She is the head of the General State Archives (GAK) of the Magnesia region in Volos. In her role at the GAK, she has organized seminars and educational programs for teachers and students. She has taught "Modern Greek History" and "History Teaching" at the University of Thessaly. Her research interests and publications mainly focus on the Modern Greek Enlightenment, Philhellenism, the early years of the formation of the modern Greek state, the development of modern Greek consciousness, and recent Thessalian history. She is scientifically responsible for a European research program on Ioannis Kapodistrias. She has participated in numerous scientific conferences in Greece and abroad, and her articles have been published in scientific journals. In 1997, she was part of the scientific committee of the Greek-Russian Scientific Conference on Ioannis Kapodistrias, organized in Nafplio by the Prefectural Administration of Argolis and the Russian Embassy in Athens. She has authored the books: "Ioannis Kapodistrias. The Reborn Phoenix" (1776-1831), published by Dodoni, Athens-Ioannina 1998, "Philhellenism and the Revolution of '21", published by Dimiourgia, Athens 1999, "Aspects and Realities of the Educational Policy of Governor Ioannis Kapodistrias. The Case of the Cyclades (1828-1832)", published by Herodotus, Thessaloniki 2003. She is a regular contributor to the "E-Historical" magazine of the newspaper "Eleftherotypia".
