Maria Kynigou - Flampoura

Diploma from the Pratsika School, recognized by the state (Gymnastics, Rhythmics, Music, Dance). Piano degree (National Conservatory). Postgraduate studies in her areas of interest (Gymnastics, Rhythmics, ORFF and DALCROZE Recorder System) in Sweden, Denmark, England, Belgium, and Austria. She specialized in studying issues related to Rhythmics Education, movement, and music for young children (preschool and childhood age). She was part of the working group for the music programs of the Ministry of Education, the working group on issues concerning Greek dance, and was a special advisor in the working group for the development of the psychomotor education and activities program for preschool age at the Pedagogical Institute. Officially invited by the Ministry of Welfare and Social Services of Sweden, with the unanimous opinion of the Ministry of Education, to teach in fortnightly Rhythmics seminars at the Kindergarten Teacher Schools of Stockholm and Gothenburg, and also by the YAMAHA music organization in Paris to demonstrate and teach part of her activities. She collaborated with the Folk Art Department of the Benaki Museum and wrote the guidebook for children, Folk Art. She taught at the Pratsika School, in the postgraduate training of Kindergarten Teachers of the Marasleios Primary Education, and at the Moraitis School. She taught Rhythmics, improvisation, and choreography at Higher Private Professional Dance Schools, at the State School of Dance. She taught rhythmics and movement teaching for children aged 4-12 at the Nursery School of the Technological Educational Institute. At the University of Athens and Patras, she taught her specialty subject (Department of Primary Education and Kindergarten Teachers). She taught music and movement at the Drama School of the Karolos Koun Art Theatre, where she collaborated on choreographic matters from 1965 for thirty years (ancient and contemporary repertoire). Indicative choreographies include: Persians, Oresteia, Bacchae, Philoctetes, Knights, Wasps, Lysistrata, etc. She teaches the course of introductory music for children aged 3 1/2-6 years at the F. Nakas Conservatory. She published books for children and educators. She passed away on October 6, 2015.
