
Iosif Vivilakis
Ioseph Vivilakis was born in Athens. He holds degrees from the School of Theology and the Department of Theatre Studies at the University of Athens. In 1996, he earned his Ph.D. from the same university with his dissertation "Theatrical Terminology in the Church Fathers: A Contribution to the Study of the Relationship Between Church and Theatre." From 1984 to 1997, he taught in secondary education. In 1998, he was elected as a lecturer, and in 2002, he became an assistant professor in the Department of Theatre Studies at the University of Athens. He has participated in scientific conferences and has given lectures. He writes for daily and periodical press and recently contributes book reviews to the newspaper "Kathimerini." A significant focus of his research is the life and work of Fotis Kontoglou. In 1995, marking 100 years since the birth and 30 years since the passing of the Ayvalik-born creator, he curated the multi-collective volume "Fotis Kontoglou en ikoni diaporevomenos" (published by Akritas). In 1999, he published the complete theatrical reviews (1936-1960) of M. Karagatsis (published by Estia Bookstore).
