Veatriki Kantzola - Sampatakou

Beatrice Kantzola-Sabatakou was born in Athens, where she studied law and English literature. She has been awarded by the Women's Rights Association (1985), the Women's Literary Society (1987, 1989, 1990, 1992), the Municipality of Athens (1989), and the Children's Art Center (1992). In 2000, her work "The Forest That Ran Away" won the ecological fairy tale award organized by Minoas Publications and WWF, while in 2002, she received the Third State Award for Children's Playwriting for her work "The Star That Didn't Want to Fall." Her works have been included in anthologies and published in literary and folklore journals. She wrote for an ecological magazine for years and has created texts and works for puppet theater for a series of children's television programs. Her work "Crazy Adventure in the Fairy Tale Forest" has been performed by schools across Greece. She taught foreign languages and translation for two decades and has translated more than 120 books from English, French, and Italian. For two years, she was responsible for the children's and youth book presentation column in the magazine "Prothiki." She also wrote the lyrics for 9 out of the 18 songs and lullabies on Tatiana Zografou's CD "I'm Not in a Hurry to Grow Up." She is professionally involved in scientific and literary translations and is a member of the Women's Literary Society and the Circle of the Greek Children's Book.
