THeodoros A. Nimas

Theodoros Nimas was born in Platanos, Trikala, in 1950. He graduated from the 1st Boys' High School of Trikala. He studied philology at the University of Thessaloniki and received his Ph.D. with honors from the University of Athens in 1993. From 1977 to 2011, he served in Secondary Education. From March 2003 until his retirement in 2011, he was a school counselor for philologists in the Trikala region. He taught various philological and historical courses at the Departments of Early Childhood and Primary Education at the University of Thessaly, at the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science of the same university, as well as at the Technological Educational Institute of Larissa - Department of Building Renovation and Restoration (based in Trikala), where he taught the course "Topography of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monuments of Thessaly." He was a member of the Evaluation Committee for the book "Grammar of the Modern Greek Language" for students of the first three grades of high school (Athens, 2011). He has participated with presentations in many scientific conferences and has given numerous lectures. He is a member of various scientific organizations and cultural associations. He was the main founder (1978) and president (from 1984 to 2015) of the Philological, Historical, Literary Association (F.I.LO.S.) of Trikala. Since 1981, he has been directing the annual philological-historical-folklore-literary magazine "Trikalina," published by F.I.LO.S. (36 volumes have been published). He is also the director and editor of the series of standalone publications "Texts and Studies," published by F.I.LO.S. in collaboration with publishers in Thessaloniki (18 books have been published, three of which are two-volume). He played a leading role in the establishment of the scientific and Thessalian "Library of Panagiotis & Maria Chatzigaki-F.I.LO.S." (1991), which today holds over 14,000 volumes, including almost all books related to the Trikala region. Through F.I.LO.S., he has spearheaded the organization of eleven Trikala Studies Symposia, as well as other conferences and lectures. F.I.LO.S. was awarded by the Academy of Athens in 2007. He is also the general secretary of the Philological, Historical, Archaeological, Folklore Society of Thessaly and a member of the Editorial Board of its scientific journal "Thessalian Studies" (6 volumes have been published). For his contributions to Education and Letters, in 2013, he was declared an honorary doctor of the Department of Primary Education at the University of Athens.
