Alessandro Barbero

Alessandro Barbero was born in 1959 in Turin. He teaches Medieval History at the University of Eastern Piedmont, based in Vercelli, and is the author of numerous historical books and novels. In 1996, he was awarded the Italian literary prize Strega, and in 2005, the French Republic honored him with the medal of "Chevalier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres" (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters). He contributes to newspapers and magazines, and in recent years, he has frequently appeared in television documentaries as well as online, where his lectures and classes on historical topics have achieved great success. With the publication of the book "Holy Wars: Crusades versus Jihad" by the publishing house Historical Quest, the Italian historian and author Alessandro Barbero is introduced to the Greek readership for the first time.
