Tasos Stathopoulos

Tasos Stathopoulos was born in Piraeus in 1952. He was a furniture craftsman. From a young age, he was involved in athletics, and at the age of 27, he ran his first marathon. Over the next 41 years, he balanced family, work, and endurance races. He traveled to 42 countries, competing in complex and individual races in 25 of them. Globally, in his age category (despite minor disabilities), he ranks in the top ten with hundreds of thousands of kilometers in swimming, cycling, running, and mountaineering. He also competes partly for charitable purposes. With an honorary permit from the Ministry of Education, he selflessly taught from 2008 to 2018 in school communities about "lifelong fitness with healthy competition," "family sports," the "marathon," and the sport of "triathlon."
