THanasis K. Papachristou

Th. K. Papachristou was born in Athens in 1945. He is an Emeritus Professor of Civil Law and Sociology of Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Athens and has been teaching in the "Bioethics" Postgraduate Program at the University of Crete since its inception. He completed his doctoral dissertation at Pantheon-Assas University (Paris II), focusing on the acceptance of foreign private laws. He is a regular member of the National Bioethics Committee. He has also served as a regular member of the Data Protection Authority and participated in special legislative committees on organ transplants and medically assisted reproduction. His major publications include "Sociology of Law" (2000) and the "Family Law Manual" (2005).
