Iakovos CHatzipieris

Iakovos Chatzipieris was born in 1967 in Athienou. He graduated from the Department of Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Cyprus, specializing in Turkish Literature. He speaks both Turkish and English. For several years, he has taught the Turkish language to Greek Cypriots and the Greek language to Turkish Cypriot educators. He participates as a research associate in sociolinguistic research projects. His academic interests focus on the systematic study of the linguistic richness of the Cypriot dialect, the integration of the Cypriot dialect into its historical and etymological contexts, and the study of linguistic borrowings and counter-borrowings that influence the historical development of languages and dialects. One of his major literary works, aside from translating "The Little Prince" into Cypriot, is the "Common Dictionary of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot Dialects."
