
Matthaios Mountes
Matthaios Mountes (1935-2000) was born in Chios. He studied Theology and, from 1961, worked in private education in Athens. In 1959, he began his collaboration with the National Radio Foundation, a partnership he continued with state radio, where he produced cultural content broadcasts. He also created television programs and collaborated with the newspapers "To Vima" and "I Proti," as well as the magazines "Efthini," "I Lexi," "Nea Estia," "Grammata kai Technes," among others. He made his literary debut in 1955 with the publication of poems in the magazine "Nea Estia," and in 1957, he released his first poetry collection titled "Legacy." He also wrote school textbooks for elementary education. He was honored with an award by the Group of Twelve (1963) and served as a member of the state literary awards committee (1984-1986). He was a member of the Society of Authors, the Society for the Study of Modern Greek Culture and General Education, and the Open Theater of Giorgos Michaelides.
