John Kounios

Dr. Ioannis (John) Kounios is a Professor of Psychology at Drexel University and the Director of the university's Ph.D. program in Applied Cognitive and Brain Sciences. He has conducted research in the field of cognitive neuroscience and published findings related to insight, creativity, problem-solving ability, memory, and Alzheimer's disease. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. He is a member of the Association for Psychological Science, the Psychonomic Society, and the advisory panel of the National Science Foundation. The research work of Kounios and Beeman on insight has been featured by American newspapers such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, the London-based newspaper The Times, and the American National Public Radio. It has also been highlighted in a BBC documentary. Additionally, their research has been showcased in The New Yorker magazine and is part of an exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
