Spyros Vlachopoulos

Spyros Vlachopoulos (born 1968) completed his secondary education at the Varvakeio Model School and studied at the Faculty of Law of the University of Athens (1986 - 1990). In 1995, he was awarded a doctorate from the Faculty of Law at Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich. His doctoral thesis focused on the relationship between artistic freedom and the protection of youth (Kunstfreiheit und Jungendschutz, Duncker und Humblot, 1996). In 2003, he was elected as a lecturer, in 2007 as an assistant professor, and in 2012 as an associate professor in the Department of Law at the University of Athens, specializing in Public Law with an emphasis on Constitutional Law. His works include: "The Right of Petition in Greek and European Community Law" (1998), "Aspects of the Right to Judicial Protection before the Council of State" (1998), "Privatization: The Constitutional Framework of a Political Decision" (1999), "Cloning in the Greek Legal Order" (2000), "Transparency of State Action and Protection of Personal Data" (2007). He is an alternate member of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority.
