Athanasios Tziamourtas

Thanasis Tziamourtas graduated from the School of Physical Education and Sport Science at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1988 and earned his Master of Science degree from Syracuse University in 1993. In 1993, he began his doctoral studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, USA, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 1997. From 1999 to 2001, he taught at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science at the University of Thessaly under Presidential Decree 407/80. From 2001 to January 2006, he served as a lecturer, and since January 2006, he has been an Assistant Professor at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science at the University of Thessaly, specializing in exercise biochemistry. His research interests focus on the effect of endogenous opioids on metabolism during exercise, the impact of exercise on free radical production, and the role of exercise in muscle and connective tissue damage.
