
Miltos Pechlivanos
Miltos Pechlivanos was born in Thessaloniki in 1965. He studied at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Konstanz. He is an assistant professor of general and comparative literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and has been elected to the position of professor of Modern Greek Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin. In 1999, he defended his doctoral dissertation on "Versions of Modernity in the Society of the Genus: Nikolaos Mavrocordatos - Iosipos Moisiodax - Adamantios Korais." He has translated works by H.R. Jauβ ("Reception Theory," Athens, Estia, 1995) and co-edited the volumes "Introduction to Literary Studies" (Stuttgart, Metzler, 1995) and "The Discourse of Presence. Festschrift for Pan. Moullas" (Athens, Sokolis, 2005). His studies have been published in journals and collective volumes, including the afterword "The Gardens of Candide and Some of Their Modern Transplantations," in "Voltaire, Candide or Optimism" (Athens, Polis, 2005).
