Sergio Blanco

Sergio Blanco was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1971. He studied philology and theater in his homeland and worked as an assistant director alongside prominent Latin American directors such as Atahualpa del Cioppo, Antonio Larreta, Nelly Goitino, and Aderbal Freire-Filho. Between 1993 and 1998, his theatrical activities were divided between France and Uruguay. Since 1998, he has been permanently residing in Paris, focusing on playwriting. He has been honored with numerous awards, including the National Playwriting Award of Uruguay, the City of Montevideo Award, the National Theater Fund Award (Uruguay), and the Florencio Award for Best Playwright. In 2010, he received the prestigious Casa de las Americas Award for his work "Barbarians."
