Ageliki Papageorgiou

Angeliki Papageorgiou was born in Athens. She studied at the School of Philosophy at the University of Athens, where she also pursued her postgraduate studies. In 2007, she earned her Ph.D. in Byzantine History from the same university, with her dissertation titled "John II Komnenos and His Era 1118-1143." Since 2008, she has been teaching at the Department of Slavic Studies at the School of Philosophy of the University of Athens. Her research primarily focuses on the transition from the middle to the late Byzantine period (11th - 13th centuries) and covers topics related to social, military, and diplomatic history, the issue of "the image of the other," and the relations between Byzantium and the Slavic peoples. She is a member of the Hellenic Historical Society, the Society for the Study of Relations between Medieval and Modern Hellenism and the West, the Society of Southeast European Studies, and the Hellenic Committee of Byzantine Studies.
