Paylos Apostolidis

Pavlos Apostolidis (1942) is a Greek diplomat, retired ambassador, former head of the National Intelligence Service (EYP), and currently the interim Minister of Administrative Reform and Electronic Governance. He studied law at the Law School of the University of Athens and pursued a career in the diplomatic corps, joining in 1965. In 1984, he was transferred to Ankara as a counselor at the Greek embassy. He served as the Ambassador of Greece to Cyprus (1990), Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, and as the Director-General for Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was also the Permanent Representative of Greece (1995-1998) to the European Union in Brussels. In 1998, he was appointed Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the following year, he became the head of the National Intelligence Service (EYP), a position he held until his retirement in 2004. After leaving the diplomatic corps, he served as a non-executive member (2004-2011) of the board of directors of Alpha Bank and as a special advisor to the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP). On May 17, 2012, during the appointment of the Caretaker Government of Panagiotis Pikrammenos by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Karolos Papoulias, he assumed the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Electronic Governance until the elections on June 17, 2012.
