Apostolos Delis

Apostolos Delis was born in Volos in 1971. He studied at the Universities of Siena, Bologna, and Bristol. He completed his doctoral dissertation in 2010 at the Ionian University, focusing on "Syros: the shipbuilding center of sailing shipping, 1830-80." During the academic year 2010-11, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre de la Mediterranee Moderne et Contemporaine (CMMC) at the University of Nice, working on the ANR - Navigocorpus research program: Corpus of commercial ship itineraries, 17th - 19th century. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the Foundation for Research and Technology (IMS/FORTH). His research interests include maritime economic and social history, the history of sailing ship technology, the shipbuilding industry, and the institutions of maritime business activity.
