Tilemachos K. Lougis

Telemachos K. Louggis was born in 1945. He completed his studies at the French Institute of Athens in 1962, the Experimental School of the University of Athens in 1963, and the Goethe German Institute in 1966. His academic background includes a degree in History and Archaeology from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Athens (1967) and a Ph.D. from the University of Paris 1 (Pantheon-Sorbonne) in 1972. He is an alumnus of the Practical School of Higher Studies (4th section) in Paris. Louggis served as a Junior and Reserve Ensign in the Navy from 1972 to 1975 (military service). He worked as a Research Assistant, Researcher, and Research Director at the National Research Foundation from 1975 to 2012 and is currently an Emeritus Research Director. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Marxist Studies from 1982 to 2000 and served as its President from 2000 to 2012. Louggis has authored numerous books, studies, reviews, and articles in Greek, English, French, German, and Russian. He has participated in approximately 35-40 scientific conferences and seminars both in Greece and abroad. He has been invited by the Universities of Athens, Patras, London, Oxford, Vienna, and Strasbourg, as well as by various scientific and cultural institutions within Greece. Currently, he is publishing the seven-volume series "Byzantium: History and Culture," with the first four volumes already released.
