Ibrahim Kalin

İbrahim Kalın is the chief advisor to the Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and is responsible for public diplomacy at the Turkish Prime Ministry. He was born on September 15, 1971, in Istanbul. He studied history at Istanbul University and earned his Ph.D. in humanities and comparative philosophy from George Washington University in the USA. He speaks six languages. His body of work includes books and articles on Islamic philosophy, culture, thought, and Islam-West relations. He was a founding member and director of the Turkish think tank SETAV (Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research). He currently writes regularly for the English-language Turkish newspaper "Today's Zaman." He is also a visiting professor at Georgetown University in the United States. His book "Islam and the West" was awarded in Turkey in 2007 and has been translated into Albanian. He is married with three children.
