Description

Love - this virtue of virtues - is one of the deepest emotions of humans, stemming from their inherent tendency for communication, support, protection, and collaboration. This instinctive impulse of individuals, the philanthropic disposition, can be cultivated, developed, and overshadow (for the most part) the opposite instinct of aggression. The loving relationship between people is multidimensional and synonymous: philotimo, friendship, eros, love, affection, amore, sex, love, liebe, lubov... Furthermore, love proves to be stronger than passion, as it prevails in terms of its duration, relative to the short-lived intensity of passion.

For love, much ink has been spilled. Many tears have been shed. Much blood has been shed. People with noble feelings have been sacrificed. Myths with admirable adventures have been created. Religions and United Nations Organizations have been built.

For love, philosophies and literature have been written, poems and narratives, musical symphonies and songs, paintings have been painted and sculptures and monuments of art have been sculpted, famous theatrical performances have been staged from antiquity to the present day.

For love between lovers, life itself has shown great interest - since love is synonymous with life - and considered it "the embrace of angels towards the stars!"

However, "what is this thing called love?" could not be answered and decrypted in all its dimensions - in width, depth, and height - like all the great questions that make up the fate and anguish of humans. Because love is a mystery that starts from instinct, emotion, and intellect and aims at the perpetuation of life. It is the greatest miracle, "the god of existences," or rather: love is the intensification of our existence, it is our personal creation that conquers time and decay.

As the human mind enriches with experience and wisdom, it realizes that love is a multidimensional emotion, a rare achievement, a high knowledge and art. It is a psycho-spiritual structure based on trust and respect, care and responsibility, courage and discipline, humility and offering, dedication and sacrifice. It realizes that the opposite sex should not be approached as an erotic object and to be loved, but as an erotic subject and to be loved by us. Only then do we first conquer the love we have within us, and then the subject that is outside of us. Otherwise, our expectations for love are disappointed. It also realizes that love is a free and not coercive union of two beings with the contemporary preservation of the individuality of each party. And only then does the offering of each become a source of joy and happiness. An Indian song says, "the sound of applause can only come from your two hands."

Finally, it realizes that the sexual encounter (sex) concerns the bodies of the two genders and is periodic and temporary, while love concerns the souls of the two people (which have no gender) and is continuous and permanent. The former reproduces life, while the latter sustains it and gives it the deepest meaning. Until it reaches affection. And there are the three stages of human life: Eros - Love - Affection.

This work is structured into sections:

1st section: Ode to Eros.

2nd section: Ode to Love.

3rd section: The immortality of Love.
