Through the sense that the uniqueness of the experience of a group's suffering is being appropriated to adapt to the experience of another group, resentment can reasonably arise. The way in which a group experiences its suffering is unique, but this does not imply that comparisons or analogies with the suffering of other groups are excluded. For this reason, an experience of oppression like the Holocaust can serve as a suitable metaphor
in order to shed light on similarities inherent in other forms of oppression, such as the oppression of non-human animals by human beings.
